MPTV Guest Appearance: Hard Hitters, the game of racquetball

MPTV Guest Appearance: Hard Hitters, the game of racquetball

Yesterday I had the opportunity to be a guest on a MPTV show called Hard Hitters: The Game of Racquetball.  I was the resident amateur racquetball player while all the others were sponsored or professional players.  Intimidated?  No...I was honored to be a part of such an illustrious group of men.

Brant Spiewak one of racquetball's elite sportsmen was our esteemed moderator for the 30 minute show along with Paul Krueger, Tom Griffith, and Dan Hodges.  The show was written to be a good introductory explanation of the game and some key aspects to the game.  I was impressed with how natural Brant was as a moderator, using the teleprompter like an old pro.  It was as if he had once been a weather man or something!

What a fun experience though!  We stepped into the TV studio and were told we need to go to Make Up to get the shine out.  We all took this in stride and actually got a kick out of sitting in the make up room being made up for the show.

Then we went into the TV room and got all  "miked up."  The rehearsal was hilarious.  Brant and these guys were a never ending stream of jokes while we waited anxiously for the show to start.  Below are some photos from that unique experience.

Emily & Sam Engagement Portaits

Emily & Sam Engagement Portaits

Emily and Sam, rockstars for sure, met up with me on a mild February day in Lake Geneva.  Our goal had been to get some photos doing one of their favorite winter activities...Ice Skating.  Unfortunately the rinks we had planned to check out were drained or unusable.  So we improvised.  We found a smooth spot on Geneva Lake and where able get the shots we wanted.  I like that we were able to use a Lake Geneva icon...The Riviera as a back drop for their photos.  Then we climbed over a wall...

Frontier Flowers of Fontana

Frontier Flowers of Fontana

Renee owns Frontier Flowers of Fontana and we have worked countless weddings together over the years.  So when we were brainstorming ways to showcase her work and with Valentines Day right around the corner we came up with a great idea.  Renee made a beautiful and creative bouquet for me to shoot in her shop and when were done I was able to take it home to give to my lovely wife.  Below find some of the favorite images from the shoot.

Lake Geneva a wonderful place to vacation

Lake Geneva a wonderful place to vacation

Many see Lake Geneva as a quick 3 day weekend get-a-way during the summer.  They may stay at Grand GenevaThe Abbey Resort, and other wonderful resort locations.  Some love it here so much they buy a second home.  But sometimes another option is overlooked.  Consider coming and staying for one or two weeks perhaps make it a family reunion and stay at a Keefe Rental property.  They specialize in week long or more vacations in the Lake Geneva area.  There is much more you can explore especially when you make this destination a longer vacation!

I’ve enjoyed working with Keefe Resort Rentals as they have many private vacation rentals, which can be a more cost-effective way to travel than one might think.  The homes, condos, and lakefront homes offer fully-stocked kitchens and all the amenities of home; more spacious than a hotel room.  Many units can accomodate multiple families which helps to defray the costs.   Check them out at: www.keeferentals.com.

Below are some fun photos from the Lake Geneva area.

Harvard Engagement Session Starline Factory

Harvard Engagement Session Starline Factory

Ericka and Kyle are getting married at the Starline Factory in Harvard, IL  This historic building takes up 5 blocks and the reception portion of the building will hold around 500 or more guests.  The rustic and charming nature of the converted warehouse looks like a great place to host a wedding.

We decided to shoot Ericka and Kyle's engagement portrats in this building and it made for a wonderful new location to shoot!  With large windows the natural light is incredible!

Evo Shift Review - January 9, 2011

Evo Shift Review - January 9, 2011

The Evo Shift has a lot to offer but there are some significant learning curve issues to resolve to make it work for you.  Below you will find photos of the form factor of the phone as well as photos and video taken with the phone.  Can you believe you can actually capture HD video with a device this small that does so much?  Amazing.

The first thing you need to know when you get into an Andriod phone is you have to open a Gmail account to use it.  Normally this would be cool with me because I am an avid Gmail user and love lots of the products that Google offers.

The problem is that the phone automatically downloads the Google calendar and Google contacts.  This is a great thing if you have been using Google calendar and Google contacts correctly but I have been using Microsoft Outlook and Plaxo for years in order to sync my calendar and contacts.  So when I got the phone and started using it I had outdated numbers and things were disconcerting to try and use the phone right out of the box.  For some however it may be the easiest transition you have ever made into a new smart phone.

Ice Boats on Delavan Lake

Ice Boats on Delavan Lake

Ice boats are fascinating to see in January around the Lake Geneva area.  I went out today with my nephew to take photos of the boats at the Delavan Lake Yacht Club where the boats were staged today.  Below are some sample photos from that excursion.
