Best of 2013-- The Reception

I look over and my assistant is crying during the father/daughter dance. She had never even met this couple and the love dad had for her daughter moved her into tears. And it would be a lie to say I've been tear free from every reception.

It is such a wonderful time to share in the 'once here, quickly gone' moments. Brief moments. We have the honor of capturing these memories and moments that quickly fade into history without the photographic reminder. We are so thankful for the privilege of preserving such important moments and cannot wait to be a part of many special more this coming season.

Best of 2013- The Romantics

What 30-minute timeframe of photos do you think is the most important on a wedding day? As the designated photographer, we are responsible to capture a variety of photos: rings, flowers, portraits, family, trinkets, bridesmaids, flower girls, ceremony sites, sunsets, cakes, dance moves, and the list goes on. As you can see from all of our best-of galleries, we love them all. But there is something very special about the Romantic session. We love this time when we get to slow down with the bride and groom and create stunning works of art that they can forever remember their day with.

Justin & Jenny's big day

Justin & Jenny's big day

One of my favorite weddings.  Well I love so many I can't really pick a favorite.  Here are the features that make a wedding like this one so fun.

  1. Unique...I love it when the bride chooses themes that are different.  Jenny chose pink to honor Breast Cancer Awareness.
  2. First Look...I love the first look because it is romantic and take so much pressure off the day and allows me to shoot many more photos for the happy couple.
  3. Deep colored skies.
  4. Energetic bridal party.  When the bridal party is wild and crazy they tend to be more open to suggestions.  This often leads to new and fresh poses and photo journalistic moments.
  5. Great music choices for the ceremony and reception.  I really dug the music at Jenny and Justin wedding.
  6. Time.  When we have time, especially with the couple, to shoot, we are able to create beautiful and dramatic imagery.
  7. Weather.  We can't control the weather but when it is in the 70s, even when it is kind of humid, it really helps not to worry about losing the wedding party over the cold or heat.

Lake Geneva a wonderful place to vacation

Lake Geneva a wonderful place to vacation

Many see Lake Geneva as a quick 3 day weekend get-a-way during the summer.  They may stay at Grand GenevaThe Abbey Resort, and other wonderful resort locations.  Some love it here so much they buy a second home.  But sometimes another option is overlooked.  Consider coming and staying for one or two weeks perhaps make it a family reunion and stay at a Keefe Rental property.  They specialize in week long or more vacations in the Lake Geneva area.  There is much more you can explore especially when you make this destination a longer vacation!

I’ve enjoyed working with Keefe Resort Rentals as they have many private vacation rentals, which can be a more cost-effective way to travel than one might think.  The homes, condos, and lakefront homes offer fully-stocked kitchens and all the amenities of home; more spacious than a hotel room.  Many units can accomodate multiple families which helps to defray the costs.   Check them out at: www.keeferentals.com.

Below are some fun photos from the Lake Geneva area.

Courtney Gillespie & Elmer Monaco Wedding

Courtney & Elmer were married at The Abbey Resort in Fontana, WI on September 4, 2010.  We had an unbelievable day with blue skies and the sun (and the love these two have for each other) warmed up an otherwise cold and windy weekend.  Click the link to find access to their online photo gallery.  Wedding photography at the Abbey Resort in Fontana, WI.

We also had a photobooth set up and it was quite the hit with Courtney & Elmer's guests.  The following link will bring you to the photobooth portraits.  Photobooth, Lake Geneva, WI.
